Four podcasts every animal lover should be listening to on International Podcast Day

International Podcast Day isn’t a holiday, but September 30 is still a great day to check out audio programs about wildlife, animals, and compassionate living!

We have a list of four podcasts every animal lover should be listening to (and subscribing to), and you can probably guess what’s at the top of that list:

  1. Defender Radio: The Podcast for Wildlife Advocates and Animal Lovers. Our very own Michael Howie, a former award-winning journalist, hosts and produces this interview-based podcast with weekly episodes. Michael speaks with advocates, researchers, celebrities, educators, and political movers and shakers to learn about various issues surrounding wildlife, domestic animals, and the environment. Defender Radio also has regular giveaways (like LUSH Cosmetics, The Fur-Bearers’ tees, and more). Click here to visit our podcast page, or subscribe on iTunes (iOS device), Google Play, Stitcher,or our RSS feed. Follow Defender Radio on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  2. Animal Voices. A weekly radio show on Vancouver Co-op Radio that’s also posted online as a podcast, Animal Voices talks “various issues from agriculture, vivisection, and fashion, to the ‘pet’ industry, conservation, intersections between animal liberation and other social justice issues, and the vegan lifestyle.” You can listen on their website, through iTunes (iOS Device), or live on 100.5 FM in Metro Vancouver from 12 pm to 1 pm every Friday.
  3. Our Hen House. A popular podcast on which hosts “Jasmin and Mariann get to interview some of the grooviest, most insightful and inspiring activists and changemakers around. And, in addition to some idle chit-chat, insightful commentary, and a bit of gossip, they review new hot products, companies, and media.” The group has grown since its launch, and now includes two additional podcasts, Animal Law, and Teaching Jasmin How To Cook Vegan. You can check them out on their webpage, or find them through iTunes (iOS Device), Google Play, Stitcher, or with their RSS feed.
  4. Pawprint Animal Rescue Podcast. The world of domestic animal rescue is unique, and hosts Nancy and Harold Rhee explore it with their weekly show. The couple talk about their own rescuing efforts, interview various other rescues from around the world, chitchat about everything (including breakfast pizza?), and hope to inspire others to get involved. Listen on their webpage, iTunes (iOS Device), Stitcher, Google Play, or through their RSS feed.

We hope you enjoy this list of amazing podcasts, and let us know what your favourite shows, episodes, and topics are!
