Lesley Fox (Executive Director)

For over fifteen years, Lesley Fox has been working in the non-profit sector. She is a certified Humane Education Specialist through the National Association for Humane and Environmental Education (NAHEE), and graduated with honours from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Public Relations, Marketing Communications and Non-Profit Management. Lesley is currently finishing her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Justice at Royal Roads University.
 

Michael Howie (Director of Digital Content and Special Projects)

Michael Howie is an international award-winning journalist whose background includes work for Torstar, Metroland, and other magazines and publications.
 
He is the host of the popular Defender Radio podcast, the writer of The Fur-Bearers’ blogs, and contributes to various online publications on behalf of The Fur-Bearers. He is also the primary manager of The Fur-Bearers' social media platforms.
 
Michael has successfully managed a political campaign, worked with various non-profits as a strategic communicator, and performs in the popular End of Times and Other Bothers improvised comedy podcast.

He lives in Hamilton, Ontario.
 

Marcy Potter (Director of Operations and Membership)

A former wildlife rehabilitator, Marcy has been involved with all aspects of helping wildlife since 2003. From caring for individual injured wildlife, to now helping to advocate for their protection, Marcy has a variety of expertise to help wildlife.

Marcy was involved with helping oiled wildlife in a Burrard inlet spill in the mid-2000s. She was the Secretary on the board of the Oiled Wildlife Society for four years. She was treasurer on the Wildlife Rehabilitators' Network of BC Board of Directors for seven years and currently is treasurer and secretary for the Animals in Science Policy Institute.

Her various administration, speaking and coordinating experience have also made an impact in her work. Working for The Fur-Bearers since 2014 has been the best place to transition to after working in wildlife rehabilitation.
