While discussing the potential for a pandemic has certainly kept the 24-hour news cycle going this month, the connection this virus has to animals, both wild and domestic, may be of even greater importance.
A trio from Wesleyan university’s biology department, including Dr. Frederick Cohan, doctoral candidate Katie Sagarin and research assistant Kelly Mei penned an article for TheConversation.com that explores the link between wildlife, domestic animals and the ongoing occurrence of emergent viruses jumping to humans. To help understand how these viruses and other diseases move from species to species, the role humans play in creating the outbreaks and what we can do as individuals to keep ourselves safe, Katie Sagarin joined Defender Radio.
