Fur-Free Friday is February 9, and we know animal lovers across Canada are looking for ways to show the world why they should be fur-free. The Fur-Bearers put together this brief list of ideas to help you advocate with compassion and help to #MakeFurHistory:
- Hand out literature. Simply having some educational literature available is a great way to start a conversation or leave people with something to mull over in a compassionate way. Handing it out during a silent vigil, making it available at your place of work, or simply passing on a single flyer about fur and fur-trim to someone wearing a Canada Goose parka on a bus can lead to kind conversation, reflection, and ultimately, a fur-free choice.
- Support Fashion Animals on Indiegogo. This important book, written by fashion professor and designer Joshua Katcher, will lead to a greater understanding of the history of fur, how it’s sold to consumers, and open the eyes of millions of people. You can hear more about the book in an interview on our Defender Radio podcast, then check out the book and support the crowdfunding campaign at Indiegogo.
- Share our blogs, podcasts, and videos. The Fur-Bearers create new content about fur, fur trim, wildlife co-existence, and more every day of the year. Our content has citations, and reasoned, compassionate messages. Share it with friends and family through social media to spread the word, and sign up to get our eNewsletter (click here) to find out about the latest new content.
- Give the gift of a symbolic adoption on Fur-Free Friday! You have someone in your life who loves Canada’s wildlife, and wants to see the animals protected from the cruelty of the fur industry. What better way to celebrate a day of advocacy and compassion than with a gift to The Fur-Bearers in their honour, that comes with a symbolic adoption eCard? Click here to check them out and show you care for your loved ones, and for the animals!
No matter what you choose to do to support the animals on Fur-Free Friday, please be safe, and lead with the compassion we want to see given to fur-bearing animals everywhere.
Join The Fur-Bearers today and help us provide alternatives to fur and non-lethal solutions to wildlife conflict. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on donations from supporters like you.
