This March marks the 50th anniversary of the beaver becoming an official symbol of Canada. But long before beavers were celebrated as a symbol of our country, they were relentlessly trapped for their fur, and exploited for fashion and profit.

Join us for a special webinar with The Fur-Bearers’ Lesley Fox, as she takes you through beavers’ fascinating journey, from their time as a fur trade commodity to becoming an important part of our ecosystem today.

In this session, you’ll learn how science, shifting values, and a new understanding of nature have shaped our relationship with these remarkable animals. We’ll also talk about why protecting beavers is essential for our future, and will be featuring the Canadian premiere of the short documentary film Beaver: A Medicine of Possibility by Beaver Institute & Indigenous Led.

This event is free to attend, but pre-registration is required. All registered participants will receive a recording of the webinar after it concludes.

Event Details:
Date: March 26, 2025
Time: 12pm – 1pm PT
Location: Online via Zoom
Cost: Free (Pre-registration required)
