Grizzly trophy hunt could swing voters, survey shows

We know it, and now there’s evidence to support it: British Columbians want the grizzly bear trophy hunt to end so badly, that many of them will change their vote come the spring election.

As part of an Insights West survey commissioned by The Fur-Bearers, it was learned that 48% of British Columbian residents are more likely to support a party that will shut down the contentious hunt. The results of this survey are a clear sign that the trophy bear hunt will be an election issue – and that it’s time for British Columbia’s political parties to listen to the people who will be voting for them.

The survey also shows that the disgust with the hunt remains high: 91 per cent of British Columbians outright oppose the hunt, showing no change since the last significant survey on the subject earlier this year.

The meat of the issue is that people right across this province want the trophy hunt to end, no strings attached. With the election growing near, we expect that the results of this survey will finally awaken the political parties to the reality of this bloody hobby that mars BC’s reputation around the world.
