Italy bans fur farming!

Italy is the latest country to ban fur farming! In a historic vote, the Italian Senate approved a budget bill that will close the country’s remaining mink farms and ban all fur farming in 2022!

A centre for global fashion, Italy will join nearly twenty other European countries in outlawing fur farming. This is a historic victory for animals and for the Italian public, who have witnessed coronavirus outbreaks on the country’s mink farms.

The fur farming ban takes effect on January 1, 2022 and the remaining mink farms in Italy will close by June 30, 2022.

The decision to ban fur farming in Italy is another signal that the era of fur is ending. See the map below from the Fur Free Alliance on fur bans worldwide. Congratulations to all the organizations and indviduals involved for achieving this momentus victory!
