Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: 35 hours per week (some evenings and weekends)

Since 1944, The Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals (also known as Fur-Bearer Defenders) has been working to end the commercial fur trade by exposing trapping cruelty and through protecting fur-bearing animals in the wild or in confinement. We are looking for a fundraising professional who shares these values and who has the skill set to help us grow as an organization.

Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with our board, staff and volunteers, you will provide the fundraising expertise to help us achieve our strategic plan.

Responsibilities:

Implement long-term fundraising plan and strategies.
Plan and run annual fundraising program.
Build donor list, solicit major gifts through personal contact and face-to-face meetings.
Solicit corporate sponsorship from companies who share our values.
Research foundations and write grants.
Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers and directors to cultivate and solicit new donors.
Work flexible hours and travel when required.

Qualifications:

Two years (minimum) experience as a fundraising professional with proven track record.
Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, solicit and receive corporate sponsorships, grants and new donors with the goal of raising over $400,000 annually.
Experience working in the non-profit sector.
On top of industry best practices and benchmarks.
Experience in writing compelling proposals and grants.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to make oral presentations.
Excellent time management and relationship building skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to handle confidential material with discretion.
Understanding of our organization’s mission and values.
