Spreading the message of coyote co-existence in Calgary

Over the summer and into the fall our awesome volunteers in Calgary will be busy getting information out to local residents about coyotes and how we can co-exist with them. Through a partnership with the City of Calgary we help to educate residents on coyote behavior and how to act around them.

Working along side the city we identify areas that are seeing an increase in coyote conflicts. Our awesome Calgary Coyote Team then springs into action, canvasing the surrounding neighbourhoods with door hangers and posters. The hangers talk specifically about managing attractants to avoid conflict, as well as give important information on how to safely respond if you do see a coyote.

This type of proactive education goes a long way in avoiding future conflicts and allows coyotes and people to safely share a neighbourhood. It also helps create acceptance of all wildlife and can ease worries of individuals who may not be that familiar with coyotes.

A huge thanks to all our awesome Calgary volunteers that have helped to spread the word!
