Co-existence starts with education, and thanks to volunteers in Calgary, some communities will be getting a leg up.
Teams of volunteers distributed educational door hanger pamphlets to over 500 homes in specific areas to help promote co-existence and reduce conflict with coyotes. In partnership with the City of Calgary, areas of potential conflict were identified and targeted to receive the materials.
To add onto the success of the distribution itself, The Fur-Bearers learned that 58% of residents who spoke with canvassers expressed interest in the information and were pleased with the distribution. And most importantly, not a single person had a negative comment about the presence of coyotes!
We are extremely grateful to the volunteers who assisted with this distribution. Anyone who’d like to hear about volunteer opportunities in their communities should contact Marcy at Marcy@TheFurBearers.com.
