Spring Bear Awareness Door Hanger Blitz

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Our door hangers help educate your community to prevent human-created conflict with wildlife from beginning! Main photo by Oliver Wirkus

Bears are going to follow their noses and stomachs as they emerge from winter naps, and it’s up to people to be prepared for this seasonal behaviour to prevent conflict. The Fur-Bearers wants to help communities in British Columbia and across Canada coexist with black bears this spring by providing our bear coexistence door hangers to the public.

The hangers, which are double-sided materials designed to hook onto a door knob or handle, explain the basics of attractant management, what to do in a bear encounter at home and where to get more information. They won’t solve conflict, but education is a vital first step.

If you’d like to receive some door hangers for your community, please contact us at info@TheFurBearers.com with your address and how many you may need (we recommend 25-50 as a starting point).

Please remember to follow all public health guidelines in your community and remember to use appropriate sanitizing methods and PPE while working with material you’ll be distributing in the community.
