#StashYourTrash radio ads hit airwaves in BC

The message to #StashYourTrash and keep wildlife safe is being beamed into British Columbians’ radios throughout May as The Fur-Bearers launches a radio ad campaign.

As part of our new #StashYourTrash program, which provides critical messaging on preventing conflict with wildlife through attractant management and landowner responsibility, The Fur-Bearers have worked with the Corus Network to develop and air a 30 second radio commercial.

Hundreds of bears are killed every year by the BC Conservation Officer Service as a direct result of alleged conflict. Frequently, this conflict stems from attractants (various types of indirect and direct feeding) drawing bears and other wildlife closer to people and people-heavy areas. Unfortunately, the Conservation Officer Service has not utilized their powers of enforcement on people and instead killed bears (read statistics and a common scenario from earlier this year by clicking here) to end conflict.

The StashYourTrash.ca website and pledge was developed in direct response to this and serves as an ongoing educational tool for residents who want to reduce conflict with wildlife in their community. You can learn more by clicking here and visiting StashYourTrash.ca.

The radio commercials will air numerous times throughout the month of May in British Columbia. To extend this runtime or create another advertisement, The Fur-Bearers would require donations from supporters.
