Resolving to get in shape, quit a habit, or stick to personal goals are admirable as 2019 launches. If you’re an animal lover, you may want to consider taking on these three resolutions to make a major difference in the lives of wildlife locally and globally:
- Go fur free! It’s that simple. Not wearing fur makes a massive difference, especially if you can help educate your community to do the same. There is no humane fur: every garment requires at least one animal to be killed.
- Get active! Take part in not just one-click petitions and letters (which do have value) but in environmental assessments, provincial commenting, and other political opportunities to give a voice to the animals. These may sometimes seem overwhelming, but such comments become a matter of public record and must be accounted for in decision making. The best part: you can do it from your phone!
- Get involved! Whether you’re able to go door-to-door delivering materials on co-existence, providing fur-free information in your community, or donating as little as $5 per month to an organization like The Fur-Bearers, you’re helping spread the message about the importance of wildlife, co-existence, and compassionate living!
It sounds like so little, but $5 per month really does make a difference in an organization’s ability to plan, respond to crises, and take advantage of opportunities to protect wildlife and help individual animals prosper. Thank you for all you did in 2018 – we can’t wait to see what we do together in 2019!
