They’re the group of people whom, after sending out thousands of samples in textiles to fashion designers, point to the designs and say ‘fur is back.’ They’re the ones who pick one fur farm out of hundreds and, with more than a week to prepare, clean and get rid of any unsavoury images, invite the media in. They’re the ones who make the claim that fur is renewable, biodegradable and sustainable, even though they coat the furs and skins in toxic chemicals.
They spend hours every day writing comments on social media and news websites, not disclaiming for whom they work, and trying to dispute advocates’ claims without any evidence.
They spend millions of dollars on marketing and advertising every year, sometimes funded by taxpayers’ dollars, and point to groups like The Fur-Bearers claiming we’re ‘well-funded’ and ‘aggressive.’
They are responsible for the deaths of over 100,000,000 animals every year.
They say they are the Truth About Fur. But do you want to know the real truth about fur? There’s hope.
Every day, we see more people joining groups like ours are our partner organizations, working toward non-lethal solutions for conflict and alternatives to inherently inhumane industries. We see the fur industry’s profits falling. We see demonstrations, silent vigils and leafleting around the world. We see people have real, honest conversations about the roles of predators in the wild, the conditions of captive animals and the need for protections.
We see people returning their Canada Goose coats after learning where the fur comes from. We see millions taking the pledge to #MakeFurHistory. We see passion, compassion and love growing every single day.
Thanks to all of you, we see the truth about fur. And it’s glorious.
Work like our growing #MakeFurHistory campaign is only possible with the support of monthly donors. Please consider become a monthly donor – for as little as $10 a month – and help us create a Canada that is truly fur-free.
