Environment Canada recommends synthetics, not fur, during extreme cold alert

Fur, MakeFurHistory, Fur Free Friday
Ontarians may be shivering in their homes tonight as a cold snap drapes itself over the province, but they’re also celebrating a statement from a surprising source.

On the eve of Fur Free Friday, Environment Canada (as posted by The Weather Network) is telling people to stay warm during an extreme cold alert by wearing synthetics – not fur.

“Always wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Synthetic and wool fabrics provide better insulation,” the website reads.

While media personalities may be decked out in fur trimmed jackets (which are typically given to them by marketing departments), the experts know the truth. Fur is not warmer than many alternatives currently available. Additionally, the alternatives don’t require the suffering of animals.

This is yet another example of the truth and facts backing up our ongoing message – fur is unnecessary. And it helps motivate us when we say we will #MakeFurHistory.
