Per our society bylaws, The Fur-Bearers has three classifications of members.
- Voting member (has voting privileges at the AGM).
- Non-voting member (referred to as supporter).
- Lifetime member (currently is closed, we are no longer accepting life members).
To become a voting member, an individual is required to apply to the board of directors in writing, expressing an interest in becoming a voting member. Once approved by the Board of Directors, a membership fee of $100 is due annually and the individual will also be required to complete 10 hours of volunteer service. These thresholds were established by the Board of Directors on December 1, 2016 (please see minutes). The membership dues and volunteer hours requirements are subject to change (per our bylaws).
Your personal information will be held in the strictest confidence. We will not share or trade your information without your written consent or approval.
Unless deceased, changes to a membership or contributions to The Fur-Bearers needs to be made by the member directly. In accordance with the Personal Information Production Act (BC), and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, we are unable to disclose information to or take instructions from a third party.
Should a family member or associate of one of our members want to make changes to the status or donations of one of our members, they would need to have a power of attorney over the affairs of the member.
Thank you for your understanding.
