An outstanding opportunity to make real change has arrived: a Private Members’ Bill to require labelling of any product with domestic dog or cat fur, hair, or skin. Bill C-400 was introduced by Brian Masse, NDP MP for Windsor West.
"It's something that comes from a lot of the import from the Asia-Pacific region. It can be in coats, hats, figurines, those things that often use some sort of accessory," Masse said, according to the CBC. "It's hard to know the full amount that's coming in, but we do know from some of the research that was done is that millions of dogs and cats are used … in products."
The Fur-Bearers have historically fought for steps to identify and remove domestic dog and cat fur – but they’re often defeated in the House of Commons. This time, however, technology is on our side. Just enter your name and address on the form below and help us flood the offices of MPs with calls to support the bill!
