Let us begin by saying how excited we are to be joining the Fur-Bearers team! We’ve been huge supporters for a long time, and it is such an honour to be tasked with developing a strong presence for the organization in the East.
As you may well be aware, in Canada the majority of animals raised or trapped for their fur live in Ontario, Quebec or even further East. Additionally, the majority of fur worn in Canada is worn in the Eastern parts of the country, so it is imperative that we ensure fur-bearing animals have a loud, unwavering voice in this part of the country.
We invite you to follow us closely over the next few months. We have some exciting plans for awareness campaigns and outreach efforts meant to revitalize and strengthen anti-fur sentiments in the country. While much of our work will be based out of Toronto, there will be lots of opportunities for you to get involved within your own communities.
Lastly, don’t ever hesitate to get in touch with us! We welcome discussion about strategy and ways to continually increase our effectiveness. This sort of critical work simply isn’t possible without the commitment of a strong group of individuals, and we look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.
Let’s face it, somehow fur has managed to make a sneaky comeback. We look forward to ensuring that this resurgence is nothing more than a temporary detour off an otherwise clear path towards respect for all animals, including our fur-bearing friends.
For the animals,
Shannon Kornelsen and Joseph Pace
