La Maison Simons, the Canadian retailer known as Simons, is going fur free this fall, says PETA.
“Simonshas confirmed that it is phasing out fur from its inventory and expects to be fur-free by the fall,” says PETAin a press release issued August 3rd, 2020.
“Kudos to Simons for acting to help stop the barbaric killing of animals for their fur,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman.
Numerous fashion brands and stores have taken a stance against fur in recent years, including Michael Kors, Gucci and others (see a full list in the Fur Free Alliance’s Fur Free Retailer program). The Fur-Bearers have contacted Simons for a statement.
Mink and fox on Canadian fur farms live in small, wire-bottomed cages and are kept row upon row until they are killed by anal electrocution or gassing.
A clear message from the world has emerged: it’s time to #MakeFurHistory. Thank you to all who are a part of it.
