InStyle magazine is fur-free! The latest significant move in a trend of fur-free announcements was made via an Instagram post from editor-in-chief Laura Brown.
“I want to be clear that InStyle does not photograph fur – nor do we accept advertising from fur brands,” the editor’s post read. “How thrilling that the fashion industry is beginning to embrace fur-free alternatives. Here’s to this dear chinchilla living a long and lovely life.”

InStyle has not photographed or endorsed fur since Brown became editor-in-chief, she wrote. But Brown says in her May editorial, her decision is made public.
“The tide is turning toward fur-free alternatives in the fashion industry, and we’re proud to be a part of it,” she concluded. “Onward!”
It is incredible to see this wave of compassion spreading across the industry. DKNY and Donna Karlan, Linden Staub, The City of San Francisco, Gucci, Michael Kors, and others are leading the way. And it’s all thanks to you, showing that compassion is beautiful on everyone, and fur belongs on the animals.
Thank you for helping this momentum carry forward as we all work to #MakeFurHistory!
