The Fur-Bearers' Volunteer Writing Team
Hi there! My name is Cassandra D’Andrea and I am currently an undergraduate student majoring in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph. My love for animals and the environment started at an early age. From reading about specific species, watching movies, visiting zoos and farms, I knew I wanted to work with animals from day one. While learning about the many remarkable and diverse species that exist on our planet Earth, I also learned about the impact society has on animals and the environment at large. Furthermore, through self-learning and schooling, I fostered an interest in animal welfare, conservation, and sustainable living. I have also volunteered at veterinary clinics, which helped me confirm my love for animals and to pursue a career path in veterinary medicine.
Aside from my science background, I have diverse skills in the performing and visual arts. I have experience in graphic design, photography, and film from high school. I also play a couple of musical instruments. However, one of my favourite forms of art is literature. I enjoy reading and writing, whether it is a creative writing piece or a research paper.
I live in Toronto, Ontario with two turtles and a dog, and I go to school in Guelph, Ontario. My favourite animal continuously changes, but right now, my favourite fur-bearing animal is the polar bear.
With my passion for both writing and conservation, I hope to contribute to The Fur-Bearers to continue to educate the public on wildlife protection and environmental issues.
