New trap release videos for dog owners

trap release, video, leg-hold, Conibear, dogs
Numerous dogs have been injured, maimed and even killed by common traps across Canada this trapping season. And we’ve had enough.

In addition to our work petitioning governments to update laws, as well as calling on the media to report on this crisis, we’ve created two new trap release videos specifically for dog owners.

These videos, which have no graphic imagery, show how to release two common traps that capture dogs: leg-holds and Conibears. Both traps are used across the country to hold and/or kill fur-bearer animals. Due to a lack of regulations, there is no need for trappers to post signage warning dog owners or other outdoor enthusiasts of their presence.

Please note it is illegal to interfere with legally set traps across Canada. These educational videos were created to provide information for dog owners and others who may require knowledge to rescue their pets.
