The Fur-Bearers is excited to award our Beaver Institute Scholarship for 2023. The Beaver Institute Scholarship supports individuals to complete the BeaverCorps training program offered through the Beaver Institute.
The Beaver Institute (located in Massachusetts, United States) provides a comprehensive online course that mentors and trains professionals to resolve human-beaver conflicts using non-lethal and scientifically-proven techniques. Students learn about the role of beavers as a keystone species and how to build and install successful water control devices to resolve beaver dam flooding problems.
The Fur-Bearers’ Beaver Institute Scholarship recipient for 2023 is Eva Hartmann. Eva came to British Columbia with a background is in Forest Ecosystem Management and wildlife conservation. Eva works as a registered veterinary technician and has recently founded a local wildlife rehabilitation centre, which focuses on care, education and coexistence with aquatic and semi-aquatic mammals and birds. Congratulations Eva!
We’d like to thank all applicants for their interest in the scholarship program and their dedication in working towards coexistence solutions for beavers.
